In the lead up to Easter, why not take a friend to the movies? City Bible Forum have arranged a special screening of the movie Risen at the Capri Theatre in Goodwood, followed by a discussion panel. Risen was a Hollywood movie that hit the screens last year.
The movie Risen
Risen is a telling of the resurrection, as told through the eyes of a non-believer, Claius (Joseph Fiennes), a powerful Roman military tribune, and his aide, Lucius (Tom Felton). They are tasked with solving the mystery of what happened to Jesus in the weeks following the crucifixion, in order to disprove the rumours of a risen Messiah and prevent an uprising in Jerusalem.
The claim that Jesus came back to life after he died is the cornerstone of the Christian message. But for many reasonable, rational people, this is too hard to believe. Following a private screening of Risen, a panel comprising both Christians and skeptics will discuss the merits of the movie and the plausibility of the resurrection.
